About Her

Interview with Wendy Camp

What’s your best real estate market?

I work best with people who want to live in the downtown neighborhoods because I know their architecture well and am totally into the concept of these neighborhoods becoming hubs of creativity.

What drives your real estate career?

People. If you look at my real estate resume, you’ll find I’ve been involved in people-protective issues all of my life. For me, it’s about connecting a person or a family to a living space that makes them happy.

Are you aware of the stresses around buying/selling/moving?

Absolutely. It is one of the three highest stresses on people.

What makes a successful real estate sales representative?

Listening. And the ability to sift through the data to figure out what it is people are really saying to you. What they really want. What is their real comfort zone.

How is the market now?

If a house is correctly priced it will sell quickly and sometimes on multiple offers.

What is your greatest frustration in real estate?

People who think they can do real estate better on their own. We are trained professionally and extensively. It would be like me deciding to be an electrician without the training. I might think it’s simple, but it isn’t.

Why do you think you are a good sales representative?

Because I really do care. I will stay with my clients and guide them through the process of either buying or selling. Because for me it really is about them. It’s not about me. It’s their show with my guidance.

Are their clients you prefer to work with?

Yes, I prefer to work with people who have made up their minds that they either want to buy or sell and are ready to get on with it. It is not the number of listings you have as a sales representative. It is about how fast you can do your job and get those houses sold. We are doing a disservice to both sellers and buyers if we can’t move the product. Moving the product is our job.

Do you have a team with you?

Yes, I have a group of resource people around me who are absolutely incredible. This is not a formal team but a number of people who share the same values, who are extremely creative – they can all see the pattern in the carpet – and who are completely competent You’ll find website links to them. I am very, very lucky!

Do you love your job?

I’ve had my moments, but on the whole, yes, I love my job!
